Description
Refitted Train Light in Metal and Holophane Prismatic Glass Dome a pair available.
Exceptional table lamp, formerly a train ceiling light, and we’re lucky enough to have two of them.
The silver-colored metal structure is worked with cut-edge shapes, creating a beautiful material effect.
On the circle surrounding the prismatic glass dome, a net of half-spheres decorates the frame. The light is soft to the eye but effective, and can be dimmed to the desired level by choosing the right bulb or using a dimmer switch. A chrome reflector inside the globe enhances light reflection.
With a little DIY, it can be mounted as a ceiling fixture.
Prismatic glass was invented by the Holophane company, and you can see here a very fine example of it. The same prismatic dome shapes can be found in larger versions at Paris metro entrances.
The glass dome is signed Holophane and numbered.
There are two markings on the underside of the base which have yet to be identified.
Standard LED-compatible bayonet bulb holder, re-electrified with new transparent cable.
