Art Deco Tea or Coffee service, Robj Paris, in turquoise earthenware
Art Deco earthenware tea or coffee service, signed Robj Paris, imported from Luxembourg.
It is indeed a production by Villeroy and Boch in Luxembourg.
Service for 4 people comprising a large teapot, a sugar bowl, a milk jug and 4 cups and saucers.
Robj, a company created in 1908 by Jean Born, was taken over by Lucien Willemetz in 1922. It was he who gave Robj his style by surrounding himself with sculptors, modelers and fire technicians.
He instituted an annual competition to recruit talent until 1931.
Elegance, modernity and originality distinguish the creations of the company.
Here is a rare complete set for 4 people.
In excellent overall condition. Interior of the teapot is normally cracked by its use and a few tiny chips on only two cups (see photos).
