Description
Art Deco Coffee Set or Tea set by Wagenfeld Ivory, Red and Gold Fürstenberg Porcelain.
The coffee set includes a coffee pot, sugar bowl and eight cups and saucers.
The tea set includes a tea pot, sugar bowl, milk jug and seven cups and saucers.
This model 0689 is very similar to the model 639 created by Wilhelm Wagenfeld (1900-1990) in 1934, inspired by the Bauhaus spirit. Model 639 was awarded the Gold Medal at the 1937 Paris International Exhibition.
This service from the 1930s is both modern for its time and timeless, just as Wagenfeld intended. It is made of porcelain from the still-famous Fürstenberg factory in Germany, elegant and unadorned, chic but not ostentatious. Fürstenberg has been synonymous with quality since 1747.
Material, function and design come together to create a harmonious unit.
Wagenfeld designed the handles for the lids and jugs in the shape of a disc and linked them to the object with functional handles of classic elegance.
‘Everything useful must be beautiful’.
The ivory porcelain is soberly decorated with a raspberry-red stripe and a gold fillet or large flat gold areas with agate on the handles and knobs. The combination of ivory, red and gold is very harmonious.
The shapes are pure, balanced, modern and unique. A chic, sober table service.
